Santa Elisabetta
Florence’s Santa Elisabetta is a Two-Michelin Star restaurant located in a 6th century Byzantine tower.
Our Grade: 87/100 (Solid Two Michelin Star Level/Excellent Experience)
The setting is intimate and romantic. With only a handful of tables, the service is attentive and polished, though occasionally overbearing. The Gin and Tonic pop rocks candy made me smile ear to ear. Lardo on warm bread melted in my mouth. The signature Eel with almond crumble, while beautiful, was a slight miss. The beef carpaccio with foie and truffle was wonderful. The algae butter spaghetti with bergamot, uni and tuna was one of the best pastas we’ve ever eaten. The duck ravioli, red crispy mullet in saffron bread crust and pigeon courses to follow were good but not great. What we affectionately called “salad desert” followed. While an interesting concept and beautiful to look at, we preferred the petit fours. In the end, this is a beautiful meal in one of my favorite cities in the world. This should be at the top of your list when you visit Florence. Well done!
